Miss Fisher's Murder Mysteries: Series 1 DVD
Episode 1: Cocaine Blues
Invited to a relative's home where a murder has just occurred, Phryne soon finds herself in a world of drug smuggling and illegal abortion. As she sets about solving the first crime, she ends up getting embroiled in the other two.
Episode 2: Murder on the Ballarat Train
On a train ride to the country, Phryne saves the life of a fellow passenger-but can't prevent the death of the young woman's mother. In tracking down the killer, she picks up a couple of runaway girls and begins to earn the respect of Inspector Jack Robinson.
Episode 3: The Green Mill Murder
Phryne goes out for a night of dancing at Melbourne's top club, but the fun comes to an end after one of the patrons is stabbed to death. When a friend becomes the chief suspect, Phryne not only has to prove he didn't do it-she has to prove who did.
Episode 4: Death at Victoria Dock
The shooting death of a Latvian anarchist sets Phryne off in pursuit of the dead man's fiancée. In the process, she enters a dangerous underworld and puts not just herself in danger but her maid, Dot, as well.
Episode 5: Raisins and Almonds
Phryne investigates a murder in Melbourne's Jewish community, where the motives are masked by politics, romance, and religion. Though the police make a quick arrest, Phryne believes the key to the case lies in an ancient Hebrew text.
Episode 6: Ruddy Gore
Two deaths onstage at a Gilbert and Sullivan show are followed by an attempt on Phryne's life and, eventually, a new romance in Chinatown. At first Phryne thinks the killings are connected with the modern-day opium trade, but soon she turns her attentions to explanations from the past.
Episode 7: Murder in Montparnasse
The widow of a French painter visits Melbourne, reawakening in Phryne memories of her time in Paris after the Great War. When the woman disappears, Phryne begins to fear for the safety of her two assistants, Bert and Cec.
Episode 8: Away with the Fairies
When a magazine columnist dies under mysterious circumstances, Phryne finds petty jealousies, deception, and, perhaps, a motive for murder among the dead woman's colleagues. Following the paper trail, Phryne searches for clues in the writer's unpublished files.
Episode 9: Queen of the Flowers
A leisurely walk along the beach leads to Phryne's newest case after the body of a young woman washes ashore. Meanwhile, an unexpected visitor shows up at her house-the supposedly dead mother of one of Phryne's wards.
Episode 10: Death by Miss Adventure
A female night-shift worker dies when her hair gets caught in the factory machinery. The police suspect accidental death, but Phryne smells foul play and Dot goes undercover to get at the truth.
Episode 11: Blood and Circuses
Phryne joins the circus to investigate a murder the police have little chance of solving-and takes a journey into a dark part of her own past. When Phryne gets some unexpected news, she fears the case closest to her heart may now be closed forever.
Episode 12: Murder in the Dark
Suspicion falls on the entire household when a body is found in the pool at Phryne's aunt's house on the eve of a lavish party. While Jack Robinson investigates the case, Phryne discovers a link to her sister Janey's death.
Episode 13: King Memses' Curse
With a madman on the run, Phryne throws caution to the wind in order to find answers she has been seeking since childhood. However, she may have to put herself in the clutches of her nemesis in order to finally lay her ghosts to rest.

"Witty and elegant"The Australian
Loved this series. Even hubby enjoyed and he's not usually a fan of stories with a female as the lead character. Mysteries were very good and dealt with many social issues of their time period. Not quite Agatha Christie, but held my attention.
I saw Miss Fisher's Mysteries on PBS and fell in love with the wonderful characters and plot lines. I love the on-going relationships and the underlying backstory as well.
LOVED THIS CRIME MYSTERY SERIES!! Set in Australia. The fabrics and accessories are phenomenal! One of my three mystery favorites!
I bought'Miss Fisher's Murder Mysteries' simply out of curiosity. I love murder mysteries! And, a surprising little gem it turned out to be. Miss Fisher is a likeable character and she eventually surrounds herself with a formidable cast of characters who assist her in her endeavors. The story lines are very good with challenging turns of events, and with conclusions that often have surprising results!
The Miss Fisher series are most entertaining. The angle of 1920's Australia gives a unique charm and wit to the series. A must see for fans of Agatha Christie.
I was so excited to see this australian series, and then found out it was unavailable. Hurrah Phryne is here. The costumes and decor are really right. Kerry Greenwood's heroine captivates.
Miss Fisher's Mysteries is a sassy, classy who done it with great Aussie flair! It is a timeless keeper in the same vain as English Murder Mysteries! A must watch for period mystery fun.
Miss Fisher mysteries are interesting, fun to watch, a little naughty, and very good stories. The characters are well written and we4ll acted. We have ordered Series 2 as well
order came very fast and will be ordering more DVDS
A look at the post war [WWI] Australian lifestyle while solving complex murder mysteries was fun and enjoyable. Hopefully there will be a season two.
Love Miss Fischer's clothes and ahead of her time attitude. Nice supporting cast.
With the flavor of Agatha Christie's 'Partners in Crime' and Emma Peel of 'The Avengers'. Flirty, fun and more than a little racy. I hope there is a season 2
I liked the show very much but I was not impressed with the fact that I had to pay delivery charges when I picked it up at the Post Office. I assumed that any delivery charges would be billed to my credit card with the purchase price.
Period costumes are really nice. Murder mysteries are intense.
I have read all of the Phryne Fisher books and loved them. The TV versions are pretty good too although the stories themselves were somewhat changed. For instance the two taxi fellows, Burt and Cecil, weren't really introduced, so that 'non readers' of the books might not understand their relationship with Phryne. A few other 'picayunish' things also semi-bothered me. On the whole I enjoyed the videos. By the way, I wanted to get in touch with the author re her other character, Corinne Chapman, the baker supreme! A Britcom actress, Dawn French, would be perfect in that role! She's the 'Vicar of Dibley' on PBS. Love that one to pieces, too!
I really enjoy the mystery's that Acorn has
I am giving this to my husband for Christmes. I'm sure that he will enjoy it as he has so many other of your collections. My main comment is concerning the great service of Acornonline. I made a mistake ordering, but it was solved in 5 minutes on the phone and I received the desired item quicker than expected. This is a great company.
she is not canadas adventures of Kristie winters 1920's. only sold in Canada. the drawings in the beginning and the gold gun knife whole thing. the show is lasafair and some anarchy stuff. no match for Alfred hitchcock or Ellery queen. murder she wrote and diagnosis murder beat anything she does.
Were not sure we would like this, but we are suckers for a good mystery story. This fills the bill. Will probably add more to our collection
Miss Fisher and all her friends make for a most enjoyable murder mystery series.
only problem when is series 2 coming out?
We love this series.well written,produced, , just great !,
read the books , love the series
charming, hope to see more, have told others about this delightful show.
I am really enjoying Miss Fisher. She is smart, and a major risk taker. Looking forward to series 2,3,etc,etc
fantastic series-would loveto have her clothes!
WE LIKED THE MYSTERIES. challangeing
I love her. She does the best job of pulling these mysteries off. I love that she's woman, and that she has her own voice.
Love it so much I bought the blue ray set for a gift
I love the seies, perfect balance of well developed characters thaat are full of surprises and often amusing. A formula that has perfect balance between puzzle mystery, high fashion, and entertainment. Thoroughly entertaining and a delightful way to spend an hour.
I have enjoyed the books over the years, and am glad that someone finally came out with dvd's of her mysteries, in the process of buying a set of the books, local libraries don't carry the full set and I like to re-read them occasionaly.
I love this series. I saw an episode on public TV and was very happy to see I could own the series. Thanks for your prompt shipment of the series.
I love movies about that era. I cannot wait for series 2
god bbc murder mysteries
I saw several of these mysteries on my local PBS station and loved them. I like the actors and the history of the time , 1928, that is reflected in the stories.
I have not had a chance to watch the DVD's yet. I am sure they are wonderful.
sexy but funny with fantastic dresses had problem with bad disc. replaced without fuss!
Great series. Hope there is a series 2.
Was actually a Christmas gift for my Aunt. We so enjoy the mystery mini-series that comes on PBS...the stories, the costumes, Phryne's house! Her car! Plus she is beautiful, the men handsome, love Dot and Hew! A very entertaining series to watch.
I have watched this series on television and enjoyed it so much that I purchased it as a Christmas gift. If you enjoy the combination of a good mystery, the hint of a love story and fabulous clothes, this series is for you.
We are really enjoying these mysteries. Love the time period of the twenties, clothing, her relationships with her staff and just all around enjoyable. So glad we bought this series.
This Australian series is a delight -- smart, sophisticated, charming.
This was every bit as good as the books. I loved the books by Kerry Greenwood, was excited to see DVD offered. It carried through on the stories so well,I do hope there will be more. I could not stop until I had gone through the whole series. Really enjoyed them. More, Please?
Great stories, marvelous characters and the best costumes!
I enjoy mystery shows. I only wish the prices were a bit less to those of us who shop on a regular basis at Acorn.
Kerry Greenwoods books are hilarious and her Miss Fisher is a wonderful fun personality with a devil may care attund
I have read all the books. When I heard they made a series of the books in Australia, I wanted to obtain a copy. When they became available through Acorn, I was happy and purchased them. The series is good, well done, with good acting. But I do like the books better because they go into greater detail. The TV series also changed a few details in telling of the stories.
I really enjoyed this series. I started watching this series on KQED and fell in love with the two lead characters.
Loved the books. These were good stories with excellent period costume and sets. Some liberties taken with some of the characters and original plots from the books to streamline them for TV. However, I enjoyed them all!
Witty, Intriguing, and very entertaining. We have watched it over and over.
I enjoyed the series 1, but I have found I prefer a more serious, and not such a light-hearted mystery. It is O.K. for a change, but not for a steady diet. I love British mysteries, and my husband and I along with a special friend, enjoy these mysteries as our main form of entertainment.
Love it can't wait for series two
loved this series, can't wait till the next series comes out. will commend this series to friends. my wife loved the fashions and the stories.
I love these stories. Was wondering if there is a Ser 2?
This is the best new import from Australia. The sets, costumes, and especially the cast were all great. I'm awaiting anxiously the next series.
Unique - interesting - love the story lines - I understand that a second season is forthcoming. Will buy it when you have it!
I've watched all of the series one and found it very fun, enjoyable and I'd like to see more when they're available.
I found that ordering the set was easily done over the computer and the delivery was timely. I will order from you again.
I love miss Fisher. The characters are wonderful, racy miss fisher, reliable and modest dot, the inspector, all of them. The costumes are great. I would rate this below Poirot and miss marple , with joan hickson, but still great.
Love all the characters and how they act/react as a team. Hope there will be another series. Our local PBS station just ran the first 4 in the series.
we really enjoy this series. A little humor and mstery with a great cast. Hope that there is a series two.
I really like murder mysteries and thought I'd like this. I really do!
I enjoy Miss Fishers Murder Mysteries. I could afford it on sale.
Lot of color not much to like in this series. Over priced.
The Australian Miss Fisher's Murder Mysteries -Series 1 is top-notch. The production's settings and clothing as well as all other production values are some of the best ever. I have read all of the books and was delighted by their transformation to the screen with just a few exceptions. The casting of Phyrne herself is the most important thing for the series and they got it just right. Bravo! I am looking forward to subsequent seasons.
She is a great character with fabulous clothes, an amazing car and beautiful men. What a great role model!
Most of the earlier ones were enjoyable, but the last three in the series were scarier than expected, because they revolve around a person who is killing girls for black magic purposes and is uncaught at the end of Series 1.
Fun to watch will there be a series 2 ? We've had nothing but good service with Acorn.
REFRESHING TO HAVE A SERIES WITH A FIRST RATE WOMAN DETECTIVE WHOSE SMART AND SEXY TO BOOT.
Love Art Deco and this series has it in spades. Essie Davis is perfect as Phryne. Read the books, series is different but just as fun.
I often forget that the 1920s occurred in every country, not just in the U.S. The Australian Broadcasting production of this series is impeccably done. Miss Fisher is a very liberated woman in the 21st century sense. I also greatly admire the fashions from that area, it still appears so chic. The mysteries are riveting although the outcomes are at times predictable. Melbourne in the 1920s appears to be an exotic place on another planet at times. Overall, it's more than worth the effort to view the entire series. I have a sinking feeling that there won't be subsequent series. Add that, if my prediction becomes true, to another one of life's major disappointments.
I like the story lines and the actors appear to have genuine feelings.
I have read and continue to read, every book by Miss Greenwood in both her series. I met Phyrne Fisher first, then Corrine- a completely different persona entirely. I have enjoyed each episode on American TV and pray/hope they will continue to do many more in the series!! Pick up the books - you will thank me later. Enjoy the videos - the casting is superbly done!!
In the books Phrynne has a Chinese lover, whom most of us fell in love with. Why did the producers of the series get rid of him and have Jack Robinson divorce the wife he loved and leave his children to possibly give Miss Fisher a new person to love? Also, I'm not happy about some of the changes made to the stories that kept only the title. The stories , novels, are good in themselves and didn't need to be altered. And if the producers didn't want stories about a woman who practiced free love in the '20's they shouldn't have chosen this series to televise.
These are a very good watch. Good story lines and witty lines are aplenty. I am only on the 4th episode, but notice the cast getting comfortable in their roles and meshing nicely. I expect an enjoyable series.
I loved getting to know Miss Fisher. Can't wait to see second series!
Absolutely super. I hope there is a series 2--and maybe more.
I love the videos. But then, I loved the books. My only cavil would be that you have to have read the books to keep up with the videos. The costuming is scrumptious, the music divine. This is a classy heroine. She doesn't kick people. Well, not often.
I have been watching the show on PBS for a year or more and my daughter who lives in Switzerland loves English shows. It is for her for Christmas.
This program is extremely well-written, well-acted and engaging.
Perfectly delightful! Highly recommend it.
Looking forward to more.
I have read almost all the phryne fisher books and love them...I hope there is another series on DVD soon??!!
