Near the end of WWII, a small troupe of touring English actors is staging a production of Shakespeare's King Lear. Bombs are falling, sirens are blaring, and aging actor "Sir" (Anthony Hopkins) is nowhere to be found. It's up to his dresser, Norman (Ian McKellen), to see that the show goes on.
