Commissioned by Nazi Propaganda Minister Joseph Goebbels, this dramatic film rewrites history to add a fictional German hero and blame British and American capitalism for the 1912 maritime disaster. Filmed at great expense with Germany's finest actors and filmmakers, it's filled with romance, intrigue, and a powerful recreation of the sinking. Some special effects were later re-used in A Night to Remember (1958). Fully restored, 1 ½ hours plus extras, including a 1920s travelogue filmed aboard Titanic's identical sister ship, Olympic. 1 DVD. B&W. German with English subtitles.
